K. G. Greene, C.Phil., M.S., J.D., is an international AI and privacy policy advisor, Yale trained lawyer, computer vision scientist, and former U.S. national lab mathematician.
Greene’s broad, multi-industry and government experience includes technical, legal and policy work for big tech and start-ups; the U.S. Departments of Energy, Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security; the British House of Lords; NRDC Asia; and Ropes & Gray.
Greene has written decision making algorithms for autonomous car navigation, terrorist tracking and Hollywood animation, been interviewed by the BBC, the Economist and Forbes China, testified at the MA state legislature, published in machine learning, policy and science journals, and contributed to the Oxford Handbook of AI Governance. Greene’s AI and governance work with government and industry clients, MIT, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Law School, Harvard Berkman Klein Center, and Partnership on AI, has included developing best practices for AI and ethics in government, universities and industry, advising governments on AI and autonomous vehicle strategy, policy and risk and facilitating collaboration across and between governments and diverse stakeholder groups.
At big tech companies, Greene has led company wide strategic work in privacy policy and advised product leadership on data protection, responsible AI, and legal compliance. As a partner at a law firm serving international AI and robotics start-ups, Greene led the firm’s data protection and cybersecurity; global business and human rights; AI policy; and Silicon Valley practices.
Greene has been a fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, the MIT Media Lab, and the Harvard Berkman Klein Center, and is currently a senior advisor at The Hastings Center, a leading bioethics think tank.
